Who am I?

I am Eowyn of Rohan.

Niece of King Theoden. Sister of Eomer. Friend of Meriadoc Brandybuck. Ally of King Aragorn. Beloved of Faramir. Slayer of the Witch King.

To be honest, I didn't know he was the Witch King when Merry and I attacked him. All I was concerned about was keeping him and his beast from defiling the wounded body of my king.

I am Shieldmaiden and warrior; Chatelaine of the Golden Hall; and I am underestimated at every turn because supposedly women are the fairer, weaker sex.

Because I am a woman, the men of Rohan and elsewhere try to protect me and handle me carefully. I do not need to be handled with care. Just because I am female, most men seem to think that I am incapable of anything that does not resemble what they assume to be a woman's work.

They are wrong and I do not feel any hesitation about telling them so.

Being a woman does not make me any less willing or able to fight for those I love or to defend my homeland and our way of life. I am just as capable of doing great deeds of valour as any man is.

After all, it took a woman to kill the Witch King and his cursed Nazgul beast.

They said no man could kill him, but I am no man.

I am a shieldmaiden and a warrior of Rohan.
